East of Ten Mile, standard subdivision lots run on the same city water and sewer as most of Meridian. West of it, a real number of multi-acre properties rely on well water and individual septic, regulated by Southwest District Health rather than the city.

That distinction matters immediately. A sink or an ice maker on a city-serviced lot is a straightforward tie-in. On a well and septic property it becomes a question of pump capacity, and of where the drain field actually sits, because building over it or too close to it is not allowed.
Neither situation is harder to build in. They just need different answers before the plumbing is planned.

East of Ten Mile the lots are mostly rectangular, which gives a design a predictable starting point. West of it, a parcel divided from former farmland can run long and narrow, sit at an odd angle to the house, or have its most usable ground well away from where a patio would normally go.
