Accessibility Statement

Meridian Outdoor Kitchens is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to meridianoutdoorkitchens.com (the “Site”).

1. Our Commitment

We believe every visitor should be able to find information about our services, understand what a project involves, and contact us — regardless of how they browse. That includes people using a keyboard rather than a mouse, screen readers, screen magnification, speech recognition software, or browsers configured to reduce motion.

2. Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

The Site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

We want to state this plainly rather than overclaim: the Site has not undergone a formal third-party accessibility audit. The assessment below reflects our own review. The known issues in Section 4 are published deliberately rather than omitted.

3. Measures We Take

Meridian Outdoor Kitchens takes the following measures to ensure accessibility:

• Text alternatives. All images on the Site carry descriptive alternative text for users of screen readers.
• Keyboard navigation. Navigation menus, including submenus, are operable by keyboard and expose their state to assistive technology.
• Mobile navigation. A navigation menu is available at all screen sizes. This addressed a previous defect in which navigation was unavailable on small screens.
• Reduced motion. Where a visitor’s operating system requests reduced motion, animated transitions are disabled.
• Colour contrast. Body text and interface colours have been adjusted to meet the WCAG AA contrast ratio against their backgrounds.
• Semantic structure. Pages use a single top-level heading, a logical heading hierarchy, and landmark regions so that assistive technology can navigate by structure.
• Link identification. Links within body content are underlined and do not rely on colour alone to be distinguishable.
• Responsive layout. Content reflows without horizontal scrolling and remains usable when text is enlarged.

4. Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some limitations remain. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed here.

• Frequently asked question toggles on certain service pages. A number of expandable FAQ items on older service pages are implemented as non-interactive elements and cannot be reached or activated by keyboard. These are being converted to standard button controls. In the meantime, the information within them is available on request by telephone.
• No bypass block. The Site does not currently provide a “skip to main content” link, so keyboard users must traverse the navigation on each page. A bypass mechanism is planned.
• Assistive technology testing. The Site has been built to structural accessibility standards but has not been tested end to end with screen reader software such as NVDA, JAWS, or VoiceOver.
• Photography. Some photographs are licensed stock imagery. Alternative text describes the image accurately, but these are not photographs of our own completed projects.

5. Compatibility with Browsers and Assistive Technology

The Site is designed to be compatible with current versions of major browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge, on desktop and mobile devices. It is not designed to support browsers more than two major versions out of date. Compatibility with specific assistive technologies has not been formally verified — see Section 4.

6. Technical Specifications

Accessibility of the Site relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

7. Feedback

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of the Site. If you encounter a barrier, please tell us. A specific report helps us resolve issues quickly — where possible, please include the page address, what you were trying to do, the browser or assistive technology you were using, and what happened instead.

8. Alternative Access

If any part of the Site prevents you from obtaining information you need, contact us by telephone and we will provide that information, prepare an estimate, and arrange a site visit directly. No visitor should be prevented from obtaining a price for their project because of a barrier on this website.

9. Assessment and Review

Meridian Outdoor Kitchens assessed the accessibility of the Site by self-evaluation. We review this statement when significant changes are made to the Site, and we update the list of known limitations as issues are resolved rather than removing them silently.
